Carlo quite satisfied with GP2 debut

Carlo van Dam is quite satisfied with his GP2 debut at the Paul Ricard track with the BCN Competition team. As a reward for his German F3 Cup title, Carlo was offered a 1-day test in GP2 to step up the ladder of autosport. During the morning, Carlo was able to drive a 1:15.590 which was good for an eighteenth position. With a time of 1:14.503 Carlo ended up the day on the sixteenth position.

Carlo: “It was a very nice day and I really enjoyed this chance. The day started very well and I could improve my pace and speed during the day, althought I drove on the limit of the car already during the morning session. During the morning it was quite good and I hoped for more during the session in the afternoon. It was a bit disappointing as the car handling was not optimal due to the oversteering problems, we couldn’t solve that in the afternoon.”

“At the end of the day I clocked a 1:14.503, good enough for the sixteenth position. I think I could have been faster but we went out too early on new tyres. The team was happy with my performance, especially about my speed and adopting to a GP2 car, so that’s positive. I’m also happy with the chance BCN Competition gave me today and we will see what the future will bring.”

Just like in the morning, Carlo had beaten his teammate during the session in the afternoon. At the end of the day, Karjalainen ended 1.7 seconds slower as Carlo.
