Carlo takes first win of the weekend at Assen

Starting from pole position at the circuit of Assen, Carlo van Dam was able to hold the lead and extend his lead in the championship by taking another win. While Carlo won the first race of the weekend, Vervisch finished second with Verdonck on third place.

Carlo: “I’m very happy with this win! I had a good start and could make a gap in the first lap to my opponents. I tried to control the race after the start but I made a little mistake. Therefore I came outside the ideal line and picked up some dust. When you pick up some dust on this circuit, it takes about half a lap before you can get back into your rhythm.”

“Vervisch and Verdonck were able to close the gap and on the same moment I had to overtake a backmarker. The situation was exciting and I had to work hard to hold them off, which I succeeded in doing. The speed was not optimal today as I had some understeer problems. I hope to get my speed back from qualification for tomorrow’s race.”

Looking forward to the second race of the weekend of tomorrow, Carlo is starting from pole again: “I have to make a good start again and hold everything in my hands. It could be a little advantage with Vervisch starting from fourth with Bruins Choi and Vietoris between us.”

The fastest lap was driven by Nico Verdonck (1:34.869).
