Carlo van Dam leaves Kolles & Heinz Union

Dutch racing driver Carlo van Dam has decided to leave the Kolles & Heinz Union team. Carlo, who in 2007 won the German Formula 3 series before clinching the 2008 Japanese F3 title, was contracted by the all new Kolles & Heinz Union outfit for this year’s Formula 3 Euroseries.

Team owner Werner Heinz: “So far, our team has unfortunately been unable to provide a driver who has won two championships with the support he deserves. For Carlo, I believe it is better to race for a more experienced team, as we do not want to be in the way of his career.”

Carlo van Dam: “This has of course been an important and thoroughly considered decision. I am happy that we have found a solution which is in the best interest of both parties.”

Kolles & Heinz Union performed disappointingly to date and decided earlier this month to skip the Masters of Formula 3 race at Zandvoort in an attempt to improve its cars’ performance prior to the official Euroseries test last week at Magny-Cours in France.

After this test and after further discussions with the team, Carlo decided to leave Kolles & Heinz Union and is now considering the options that other teams can offer in several racing categories.
