Dutch racing driver Carlo van Dam is ready for the start of the Japanese Formula 3 championship, having completed his pre-season testing program with Toyota Team TOM’s with a two-day test at Suzuka earlier this week. The season starts at Fuji on April 4 and 5.

During the test at Suzuka - the last before the start of the Japanese F3 season - Carlo was second fastest on the first day, before being quickest of all fifteen drivers present on the final day. “We seem to be on the pace”, Carlo concluded. “As for the lap times, you always have to read between the lines a bit of course, because this is testing and everyone was out on old or new tyres at different times. Most importantly we were again able to work on the setup a lot and for the first time I felt completely at ease in the car, as we had also made a new seat with which I now sit comfortably in the cockpit.”

“During the last session of the second day it started to rain and on a wet track I was second fastest, but there was another, quicker series of wet weather tyres that I didn’t use. Suzuka is a great track, by the way, and it is good that we have tested here, too, for now I have at least gotten to know three of the six circuits on which the Japanese championship is contested this year.”

“All in all we again had two productive and educating days. Also, I start to really feel at home here now, both on track and in daily life. This coming week I will be in Holland for a few days and then I will happily fly back to Japan again, for I am of course looking forward to the first races at Fuji.”
