Carlo van Dam retires from Fuji GT 300km

11-09-12

Dutchman Carlo van Dam and his Japanese team mate Takashi Kogure today retired their Honda HSV-010 on lap twenty of the Fuji GT 300km, round six of the 2012 Japanese Super GT championship.

“I did the start and very early on in the race I felt there was something wrong with the steering”, Carlo said. “It soon got more difficult and the vibrations got worse, so I had to pit, and the team tried to solve the problem, but then it became clear it could not be repaired just like that, so that was it.

“The Honda’s didn’t seem to be on the pace here, so Fuji was never going to be an easy race, and ultimately Takashi did not make it through Q1, so I never got to do Q2. “It was a weekend to learn from, especially as next week we will be testing at Motegi, where the final round of the championship will be held at the end of October. The next race, however, is on September 30 on the Autopolis circuit.”
