Carlo van Dam takes pole position for second race

Yesterday Carlo van Dam drove to pole position for the first race at the Nurburgring. Today in the afternoon, Carlo was able to take his second pole position of the weekend, for the second race. With two pole positions this weekend, Carlo takes two important points for the championship. Vervisch will start next to Carlo on the first row. Verdonck and Bruins will start from positions three and four while Vietoris will start from fifth.

It wasn’t easy for Carlo to take pole position for the second race and he didn’t expect he would qualify on pole. Carlo: “As qualifying started at half past five, we were not sure what to expect from the track conditions. I had some problems with my back but it didn’t have influence on my runs. I drove a total of seven laps with my best time set on my second flying lap which was good enough for pole. I didn’t expect to take pole as my lap was not perfect with some little mistakes by myself and some traffic. I drove a best time of 1:35.539, almost three tenths in front of the number two Vervisch. If my lap was perfect, I think I could have been a few tenths faster.”

With two good exit positions Carlo expects to take two wins tomorrow. Carlo: “The first race will start at eight o’clock in the morning and there might be some rain. The second race will start at eleven o’clock, so there’s little time between the races. It will be very important to finish the first race without any damage. I think there will be more opposition in the second race. Vervisch will start on a new set of tyres as he didn’t take part in the first qualifying. I’m looking forward to the races and hope to add two more race wins on my list!”
