Difficult Friday for Carlo on Autopolis

Yesterday was a very good day for Carlo van Dam, while testing on the circuit of Autopolis in the south of Japan. After four hours of testing, he finished the test successfully and was positive about his chances for this weekend.

The two free practice sessions from today were more difficult then expected. During the first free practice, Carlo ended on the sixth position (1:40.262), while finishing fastest during the second practice (1:40.202).

Carlo about the free practice sessions: “It was not a day as I expected. In the morning we find out some problems after the changes we made on the setup from yesterday. In the morning the circuit was faster compared to the afternoon. It was a very close field with eight drivers within two tenths of a second. Normally, our team is in front of the rest by seven or eight tenths.”

“In the afternoon, we changed the setup back to yesterday’s. After that it was quite ok but the track was slower then in the morning. We were able to try out some things, that’s what free practices are for. You need to find the right moment to go out, that’s the most important with these tyres. As the day gets warmer, as harder it gets with these tyres.”

“The field will be very close tomorrow. I expect that we can fight for the pole position, with a very exciting battle for the pole!”
