Carlo reasonably happy after free practices

Carlo van Dam is quite happy with the course of his Friday as a preparation for the fifteenth and sixteenth round of the Japanese Formula 3 championship. The TOM’s Toyota driver ended the first free practice as third fastest and realised the fourth time in the second session. Overall his best time puts him on the sixth place.

Carlo: “The results can be deceiving. I lead the way in the first session with ten minutes to go until the Honda’s went faster. There were some spots of rain after that, which meant that I couldn’t improve my time.”

“The seconde practice went quite well. We have to gain some tenths of a second and I think we can compete at the top tomorrow, as we have done all year so far. On old tyres we could do some good times, better than in the previous races. With fresh tyres the speed was OK, but it could be better.”

“The car felt nice. We have to fine tune the set-up of the car for qualifying and the first race on Saturday. I keep the myself under pressure to put in a good performance and I should be able to get a good result tomorrow and secure my title.”
