Carlo van Dam returns to South-Korean Super Race21-04-11
Tokyo - Dutch racing driver Carlo van Dam will this year return to the South-Korean Super Race championship which starts this coming weekend at the circuit of Yeongam. Carlo will race in two Super-classes, Super 6000 and Super 3800, having been signed for both series by the leading EXR
Team 106 of Ryu Siwon, a well known actor and singer in Asia. As Carlo will also compete in the 2011 Japanese Super GT championship and has rejoined the Subaru works team for this year’s Nürburgring 24 hour race, he has a busy racing season ahead of him.
“Last year I already did some races in the Super 6000-class in South Korea and
last winter I received an offer from EXR Team 106 for 2011”, says Carlo, who
moved from Holland to Tokio at the beginning of this year. “When I visited the
team in South-Korea I was instantly impressed by its facilities and the ambitions of Ryu Siwon, who has formed a very professional racing organisation. Another good thing is that I will race in two series, Super 6000 and 3800. In the latter everyone races a 3800cc Hyundai Genesis. In South-Korea, motor racing is still a relatively new sport and it is nice to contribute to its development.”
“I can combine the Super Race events in South-Korea with the Japanese Super
GT calendar and my contract with Subaru quite well and this promises to be an
interesting and challenging new chapter of my career. Being part of all these
racing programs means it will be a busy year and I look forward to it.”
The 2011 Super Race championship comprises seven races, the first of which will be held this weekend at Yeongam, the South-Korean Formula One circuit that opened last year.
