Carlo van Dam targets pole position

The free practices for the race weekend at the Motegi circuit are finished and not everything went well for Carlo van Dam. The first session didn’t provide any problems, but during the second session Carlo experienced a technical problem. Despite the loss of valuable track time is Carlo still confident he can go for pole position tomorrow.

Looking back at his Friday, Carlo says: “The first practice on old tyres went very good. I realised a quick time on very old tyres, which isn’t too bad. The second session however started with a electronical problem on the engine. We could do a good run on old tyres and a run on new tyres, but that didn’t go so well. The tyre pressure proved to be wrong. That was a pitty, because the car felt good. I wanted to fine-tune the car, but because of the problems I could do very little.”

Carlo still has high hopes for qualifying. “The field is very close together, as always at Motegi. Qualifying will be very tight. Everything has come together in your two qualifying laps and when it does, you have very good changes on pole position. I feel confident and think we can compete for the first place on the starting grid.”
