Carlo wants to extend his lead at Okayama

Carlo van Dam travels as leader in the Japanese Formula 3-championship to Okayama for the ninth and tenth race of the season. The Toyota Team TOM's driver holds a lead of 27 points over teammate Takuto Iguchi. The target for the weekend at Okayama is to build up that lead.

Carlo: "Okayama Circuit is a very lovely track, with lots of corners with banking in them. The area is also very nice, the circuit is surrounden by trees. Today we have tested for four hours, which didn't help us very much. In the morning it rained and it didn't go so well. But after we put another set of tyres on the car it felt much better."

"The weather changed by the minute. At the end of the Morning we got a good rhytm, despite a little moment when I had to go through to the gravel. In the afternoon we got some more rain, but it went reasonably well. The track slowly dried and at the end it was able to make a run on slicks. I touched a kerbsonte and spun, almost touching a wall. Fortunately the car stayed out of the wall!

"Okayama circuit is in the dry a nice track with enough grip. In the rain however it becomes very slippery. And the rain season has started in Japan, so we can expect some more in the rest of the weekend. Tomorrow we want to use the free practices to get some more information, than on saturday I want to qualify on pole twice and hopefully I can extend my lead in the championship by scoring more points than my rivals."
