Difficult Friday for Carlo at Okayama

De first two free practices for the ninth and tenth round of the Japanese Formula 3 season have come to an end and they didn’t go so well for Carlo van Dam. The Toyota Team TOM’s driver is missing the right feeling at Okayama circuit.

At least the weather was better then yesterday during the test session. Carlo: “The circumstances were good. There were some clouds, but the temperature was 26 degrees, which is nice. On track things didn’t go so smoothly for me as yesterday. The first session was not so good, even on new tyres we couldn’t find the pace.”

“During the second practice we tried some different things, but that didn’t work out. It only got worse. We are finding it more difficult then in the last two weekends. The car doesn’t feel good and the data shows me that we have to much understeer. We have to improve that for tomorrow. That’s a new day and and if we can fix the understeer we should be able te make a big step and go for pole! In qualifying I always can give something extra, but we have to work hard to solve our problems.”

Carlo does enjoy Okayama circuit. “It really is a very nice track, but there are not many overtaking opportunities. The only place where you can overtake is at the back straight.”
