Good start for Carlo on Suzuka

Carlo van Dam started his Japanese Formula 3 weekend at Suzuka very well. On the beautiful circuit, the Dutchmen clocked a second time during the free practices. In front of Carlo was Japanese driver Yamamoto for the Honda team.

Compared to the two weekends before, the field was shuffled and not as close as it was in Fuji and Auto Polis. Carlo was faster then his two team mates from TOM’s.

Carlo: “During the first practice, I drove on old tyres. It’s always a bit difficult to say where you’re in the field on old tyres. The second practice was quite ok on new tyres. I’m a bit surprised by the speed of Yamamoto and the Honda, I didn’t expect them to be that fast.”

“The weather today was pretty good, not too warm around 25 degrees and a bit cloudy. The circuit was not as fast as it was during the test so we made some changes to the car. Overall I’m happy how things went today. Tomorrow and Sunday there’s rain expected so I look forward to the qualifying and races as can drive in the rain very well.”
